Engine moisture?? (ew)
Hi,
Recently purchased an '03 6-spd S with 86k miles. Today we opened up the engine cover to take a look.... Im hoping to hear from you all if this is normal or not??? Seems to be some moisture or condensation around the engine block and another lower hose. Help!!! Here are the photos: http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1597276508.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1597276574.jpg Thanks!http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1597277023.jpg |
Looks like oil fog and road grit. Doesn't look as if the engine bay has ever been cleaned.
have it steam cleaned or degrease it with a good engine degreaser. Take your time get it as clean as you can. Every where you can. above and below. Once it is clean you will be able to tell if and where you have oil leaks. A dirty engine bay just complicates any issues you may have. A clean engine bay makes things easier to work on and easier to see issues. I spent two days cleaning mine when I bought it with 45000 miles. Now when I remove the engine cover I know in seconds if there is an oil leak. |
If you are able check the AOS hose going to the Throttle body perhaps that is the source of the oil mist film.
I cant exactly explain the pattern on the intake runner but I do recall seeing oil film on these engines |

That said I found the noise and vibration transmitted into the cabin via the cables really awful. I pulled them off very quickly. |
