circuit werks or Blackhorse cat backs?
in a squeeze for time to buy, so quick...like to hear some opinions on this:
I am preparing for a clutch job and after getting my exhaust off, I'm leaning towards slapping on a catback system from ebay. 1. should I go with the blackhorse-racing or the circuit werks? Circuit werks is about 50 bucks more, but from the pictures, the blackhorse just looks nicer. Also, I see systems that are combo straight headers and cat back (using the secondary cat) by reusing the center pipe. 2. Does this introduce tuning and CEL problems but eliminating the front cat? |
You will most likely get a cel if you switch to headers. The secondary cats will require a long O2 sensor lead to reach the downstream bung. My Circuitwerks high flow cats threw a cel for insufficiency. You would then need a tune to eliminate that. You might watch some of my videos which deal with these things.

For what it is worth, I have the circuit werks 2nd cat delete on my 02 S, no code issues and have seen a few muffler cat back kits and they seem to be quality. My 2nd cat deletes and U pipes to muffler fit great and welds were very nice. Also, they are out of TX/ USA!
I would recommend them and there are some bosch o2 sensor extensions that you can make if needed as well. |

You answered it here apologies. So do you think some other make would not throw a code ie if they flowed less? |
Honestly, I’m not sure if the Circuitwerks wouldn’t have been okay had I not done all the other stuff before having the tune. What I mean is, I may have burnt out the cats by running a too lean or too rich condition due to my other mods before I got the proper tune. I wish I could be more helpful but I tend to have great 20-20 hindsight!

I used Circuit werks and they fit without issue. I loved the extra Note they gave plus a pit of weight removed. Hardest part was removing the 3 bolts/nuts at the collector. I thought they were priced right

think I am going with the fabspeed setup, second cat delete and streamlined mufflers. 1400 bucks, but Im already at 800 with the cheap stuff off ebay if I do the same thing, so...thoughts?

OK, I pulled the trigger, took the plunge and purchased the fabspeed Supercup Exhaust System...pricey but should be loud and pretty. 40lb weight savings too.
Anyone know how quick they ship? cuz I havent gotten any shipping notifications or anything |

I've run the cheap manifolds with 100 cell cats for about 3 years then with 200 cell cats for 3 years with no remap. Goes well but is always a bit close for emissions.
