brother, I own the same car 2000 S guards red with Ruf wheels with 42,500 miles.
No problems... Sweet ride but I feel it needs a tad more power. Have you tried GIAC, REVO or UNICHIP?
Do you have any pics?

2001 w/76k bought on Labor Day - 2006. No problems. Came w/new battery & new tires. Original owner was from Beverly Hills. Very clean and very nice. Top looks bnew. Wife wouldn't let me buy it until we negotiated driving days. She gets M-W-F and I get Tues and Thurs. I don't care...this ride is the coolest! If James Dean was alive today, he would be driving "my" Arctic Silver Porsche!

wifey now has a 2002 S. black/black/black + tip. 17k miles.
problems: top is noisy...cables?...motor?
smells like burnt oil when parked. i checked the engine and can't find anything obvious. must be a small leak that hits the exhaust on the passenger side. otherwise, very fun to drive!
