First Start Up After Engine Refresh - Weird whining noise near intake

Hey Guys,

I finally got around to fixing the cam issues (dislodged freeze plug) that i suffered the first time started the car. This time around this are going much better, but there a weird noise coming from around the intake/throttle body. Its not constant, seems to cycle every 5 seconds or so.

In the video below you can hear the noise starting at round 18 seconds when I rev the engine, and then it gets pretty evident again around 35 seconds. Any thoughts?

Other than the noise, the car is running pretty smoothly with no codes

Edit: I have a durametric unit, if there's anything I can check

Found the issue. Had to top up power steering fluid. I guess the noise was coming from the pump.****

Sometimes it's hard to discern the source of a noise. I have found that using a flexible plastic tube, one end to my ear and the other end sleuthing around in the engine bay, can help pinpoint the culprit.

Ah, you beat me to it! If your PS fluid level is low, you might check around for leakage. Sometimes it's o-rings between the pump parts or in the tubes/connectors.

Cavitating air will make it whine. Same with the slave cylinder.

Hey Woody. This is my 996 engine. I picked up the 996 a couple of years ago for 5 grand w IMS failure. Finally put in the time to finish rebuilding the engine.

The V8 986 is still alive and kicking. I actually gotta do a lot more work omn it now that the 996 is finished. Look out for my PMs :)
