Cayman 987 coilovers on 986
I need new struts. Was thinking of getting the Fortune Auto Series 500 for Caymans. Will it fit my 99 Boxster?
|
Tops are the same, but unsure of the bottoms, heights, spring rates, etc may be different. I wonder though, might be interesting :)
|
Called a bunch of shops. Apparently the mounting points are the same.... I really want to pull the trigger but I want confirmation before I do :(
|
Call Fortune direct and ask them about fitment and spring rates for the 986. They should be able to answer all of your questions.
Their phone and email info is at the bottom of this page: https://shop-fortune-auto.com/collections/porsche-500-series/products/porsche-cayman-non-pasm-2006-500-series-coilovers |
I found this old thread;
http://986forum.com/forums/performance-technical-chat/26973-can-boxster-987-coilovers-fit-986-a.html Kind of a twist at the end there with the "sleeves". Not sure if it helps. |
A sleeve wouldn't be hard to make up to allow the use of Cayman coil-overs.

Anyone find pictures? |
Here's a picture of the ST X Coilovers for the 987
http://cdn2.pelicanparts.com/catalog...ions/90203.jpg Is that the sleeve shown on the rears? Pelican offers these http://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/ST13271016.htm?pn=ST-13271016&SVSVSI=987M Maybe they will chime in. |
Why do you want to fit Cayman coilovers when there must be plenty out there for the Boxster?
