Using a factory switch for other purposes :)
I have a 986 and am installing footwell lighting in the car. I want to use a factory porsche switch for the footwell lighting. I have the following diagram and need some help with the pin-out/wiring.
http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1497361493.jpg From the diagram I would think the wirng would go as follows: PIN 1 - Wire to Positive of lighting controller PIN 2 - NOT USED PIN 3 - Wire to Dash Lights PIN 4 - 12vDC Power PIN 5 - JUmber to PIN 1 Can someone please help me in confirming this? |
It's not that simple.
The switches are momentary, so depending on the light system you're using, the lights would likely only be on if you held the switch. You'd want to wire it to a latching relay. #1 & #2 would go to the latching relay and #5 to a ground that is active only when the lighting controller is powered on. |
Thank you for the info. That makes perfect sense.
Have a great day. |
Are there any switches that use the light that are straight on/off switches?

If you want to to add footwell lights, it's easiest to just power them from the courtesy lights. |
I'd like to use Porsche switches to control functions on my standalone ecu
