Under trunk heat shield fasteners, how to remove?

The heat shield that lines the area under the trunk and all around the transmission is held in place by many little fasteners, on my car they are small blobs of rust and I cannot see how to remove them. I looked on the PET and can't find the heat shields or the fasteners. Help!
Actually I need to know how to remove the fasteners because the small heat shield around the shifter cables on an S is held on by 2 of these fasteners. There are also a couple of fasteners where the head shield has broken around the washer that is part of the fastener so they have to be replaced.

Answer to my own question... 8mm socket. Got the heat shield off but the other two fasteners need to spend more time with penetrating oil.
