What is wrong with this picture?

That was pretty obvious. I now have this box of very expensive junk from what was a 3.6L turbo Boxster S. I think the five non-broken rods are OK, but most of the pistons are damaged from being overheated and FOD from the damaged rod. I was thinking of making some art, along with the dented up IMS.

That sucks. Is the engine a total loss or can you rebuild it?

I like the art idea. Perhaps you can charge 20k for it and purchase a new 03 Box.

It was not mine, and I think it was more than a $20k engine that was trashed. I don't think much of it was salvageable. VERY sad. It was very fast while it lasted. I think these were the last bits of the engine that were still laying around after a couple years.

I'll take a rod and piston for my desk!!

Put a small clock in the rod big end and you have a nice little desk clock.

That is someone with WAY too much time on their hands...

heliguy 03-17-2017 10:29 AM

I have read lots about not turbocharging these engines.

Have you got any more info on the car, would love to see it. How much power was it making?

This is why the Audi V6 in my Boxster makes sense, I can replace it very cheaply if the same thing happened.

Were those Aluminum rod? That's what R&R is noted for.
