Oil change concerns.

Hey everyone.

I have been lurking for the past year reading and studying how I can keep my boxster happy. This time I feel I need some help directly.

I have my intro here:

Here are the pictures in question. This was found after a 5000mile and 7 months oil change.

I am looking at my options. The engine ran fine before dropping the oil. It has been at its best since I owned it. I probably dislodged some carbon deposits during my track day.

The more I look at it, the more I feel I need to pull the pan.

I will get a picture of the filter, but it was clean.

Thanks for the help.

1) Check the metal particles to see if they are ferrous - just pass a magnet over them. If they are non magnetic, I would think that it is normal shedding from an all alloy engine.

2) Its always good practice to drop the sump - its like a mirror of what's going on and can indicate the general health of the engine. While the pan is off, check the oil pump screen for any caught up sealant - another indicator the someone has overindulged the gasket sealant....

1) Shedding like coke shedding? Which was I have had in my turbo cars until I changed the oil to synthetic.

2) Well I was the last person doing the pan and don't believe I used too much. I am still planning on opening the valve covers since my deviation is a on the edge already.
