plugs in rear trunk

got a question. in my rear trunk - in the rear corner on each side - wires pass through a grommet into the space between the bumper and the wheel well. the wires just end in a plug with nothing attached to it. any idea what they are for? i was thinking park assist but no real idea. thanks.

I changed an O2 sensor on a 99 a while back and I think the rear sensor harness runs through the trunk on the 2.5s. Not on the later ones.

The only wires I have there are for the post cat o2 sensors. The o2 connector is unmistakable and not used elsewhere...what do yours look like?

Reading with interest as I have headers but still have the secondary cats. If the wires are indeed for O2 sensors then I might add bungs after the secondary cats for the downstream O2 sensors and see if I can get rid of my cel.

It's your rear O2 sensor wiring for 97-99

thanks folks - totally what they are. its a 99 w a row flash and engine swap, so the plugs were not doing anything, and in a different location than on my 2000S so i go confused! thanks.
