986 seats in a Cayman - Will they fit?

Will seats from a 2002 986 Boxster work for an early Cayman?

I've head the electrical connections are different and I'm assuming there may be an issue with the mounting brackets matching up.

Anyone have any experience with this?

(I posted this on the Cayman sub-forum but wasn't sure how much traffic that would get)

I think the physical mounts are the same. The electrical plug is probably different and Caymans have seat bolster airbags which 986 Boxsters don't have which would probably require some coding to not have an airbag light on.

I had someone tell me they mounted 987 seats in a 986 and said it wasn't hard. Don't know anything more than that.

Pelican Technical Article: Installing 997 Seats Into a 986 Boxster

Here's a link to an article describing the installation of 997 seats in a 986. It should give you an idea of the differences in the systems. I think it would be fairly easy to install non-memory 986 seats in a Cayman since all you would need is a power and a ground to operate the seat motors.

As a previous poster said, you will be giving up side impact protection.
