Ignition & brake light issue

Hi everyone, this is my first time posting here but i have been reading many forum chats since i became a 986 owner. I do apologize if i am jumping right ahead to questions but i recently ran i to two issues on my car and am unable to determine what's wrong.

First is when i engage my parking brake, the light does not show on the dashboard thus preventing me from operating the roof up and down. It does not happen always but usually if i have the roof down and engage the break the light does not come me on. If the car hasnt been driven for a day or two its fine then.
Second is my car sometimes will not start, i turn the key and nothing happens, no struggle to start or anything like that so i know its not the battery or the starter, usually if i keep turning the key to start eventually after 4-5 tries it starts and i noticed it usually happes if its cold outside i dont know it that has anything to do with it. And again also if the car hasnt been driven for a while.
My car is 03 Boxster with 43K miles on it.

Again i apologize if i might be asking much this soon, i just wanted to see if other have run into such issues before i take it to the dealer.

If you've been reading as many forum chats as you say, you'd know that your issues are related a parking brake switch and a faulty ignition switch. Plenty of threads on both subjects and you can certainly do them yourself if you know which end of the wrench to hold.
