Quick disconnects can help if you need to change a transmission at the track in a hurry. Makes it way less messy, but you need to have a replacement transmission with the matching quick disconnects installed ready to go, so cost is increased substantially. You will really need 4 quick disconnects to make it worthwhile. Two for this transmission and two for the replacement. Personally I'd rather spend $600 some where else on the car and deal with messy fluid.

Part 2 looks like a T piece with a block off on one side. I would say it is designed to fit in the drain plug and allow fluid to be drained easily.
