After the commute to and from work I'm hooked on the McMaster Carr spring.

PM your address if you want it, and no worries if you want to take some time and try to find a different one. I think that thread (linked somewhere in this one) had a few other options, but those that tried a few of them preferred this one.
if you could provide a part number and source this would be very useful.

But you got that from a dubious source(me)?
"Based on the info above :-
The stock spring is 75lbs/inch and about 4" long
The McMaster Carr spring # 9657k142 is 39lbs/inch but only 3-1/2" long.
The deficiency in length is a problem?
If so, check McMaster Carr #9657K136.
This is slightly larger diameter(1.25" vs 1")
It is 57 lbs vs 39 (or 75lbs.for OEM)
Fully compressed it is longer than the short spring 2.81" vs 2.31" Is that 1/2" a problem?
You can buy just one spring in # 9657k136
or this?

It's the spring mentioned in the rennlist thread. They come from McMaster Carr as a bag of 6. It fits and it works, but I doubt I'm the only one who has tried it here so I'm sure someone else will weigh in.

I can't see how the longer compressed length can be a problem as the locking hole is visible with either spring in the compressed state. Wider might be a problem getting it into the canister. I didn't measure the canister while it was out.

I've read the whole thread but still dubious on what is being felt with the mod?
Is the clutch pedal going to be lighter to press in? or depresing faster?

Heavier pedal, less spring assistance. Better feel, easier modulation.

I found the original spring made for a very light pedal, (numb feeling), and I had a harder time finding the biting point than I should have.

Just pulled the spring & I like the feel, though there is some play when the pedal is fully released.
Ordered a 6-pack of McMaster springs & will report back on my experience.

Got all psyched to pull the clutch spring assist from my semi new to me 98, stretched a bit and under the steering wheel I went. removed the vent to make things easier to
see................. that my spring assist is already removed. Some have complained about how hard the clutch is to push without it, I guess when one doesn't know the difference...... sure feels light to me

Yanked the overcenter spring on my winter VW MK5 too, made an impressive improvement there. No more vague pedal. I can’t see the reasoning for the overcenter spring. These cars don’t have heavy clutches.

Wow, a relatively simple thing can make such a difference! Installed the Mcmaster spring, took about 30min total, if that long. What a difference!

The clutch power spring is a very good mod, especially on 2.5 and 2.7L which have a weird feeling from stock.

I wonder whether you US people have a different spec springs or set up. Not many people complain about this over here. Indeed, the most common 'mod' is to replace a broken spring and most report a better clutch operation. Manual cars are the norm here and I don't notice anything particularly peculiar with the clutch in either of the Boxsters I've had compared to the dozens of other cars I've driven.
