Boxster Performance issue

Hi

I recently bought my first porsche boxster 2001 model. It's in a relatively good condition other than the few bumps, scrapes and scratches and a few internal items that I needed to replace.

I have noticed that when the boy racer mood strikes and I reach 4800 - 5000 rpms the engine seems to give a little back, like it's being smothered or something, I don't know how else to explain my problem.

Is there anybody that can maybe give me some advise on this?

Sounds like Fuel pump or filter is not outputting enough fuel and pressure starts dropping at higher RPM. Have the fuel pressures checked at idle and higher rpm.

Ok thanks I will have it checked with its next service interval coming up

Have them perform a "fuel volume test" using a PSTII or PIWIS.

If they don't know what I'm talking about?? RUN. It's spelled out in the factory manuals how to do this.

Fuel pressure will tell you nothing. It's a volume issue with these cars, and it is performed utilizing the above mentioned tools (that 80% of the shops don't have)
