flashing CEL

after a spirited drive home yesterday, was near home, at a redlight, and I noticed the CEL flashing. It stopped and went out. Drove the car home without incident. Car seems to run fine, did not notice any performance issues. I will double check the gas cap (I always do a couple of clicks). What could it be? Is it common for the blinking light to just stop? What does that mean?

A flashing CEL is VERY severe. Usually means get to the side of the road ASAP as safely as possible, turn off engine, and call flatbed. A steady CEL, not so much. Get your codes read, and report.
