If its too long because you got the engine in the car just unthread the shaft from the plastic handle

I realized this after I trimmed mine. But that still doesn't make sense: why put on a nice handle if you have to remove it to make the tool work.

I cut it down and dressed the end with my grinding wheel. The tool now has about 4mm between the crank pulley and the plastic handle when fully inserted.
