trickling water sound

Hi all,

I am new to porsche so not used to "odd" sounds yet - after driving approx 45 miles, I have to admit some at speed, I heard a water trickling/gurgling sound down and behind the right hand side of the drivers side seat - in the US this would down the left.
All the levels are fine, temp guage static at 80, idle steady -

Any one got an idea ?

Thanks

Does it only do it when the roof is up? might be the roof tensioner cables. I cant imagine it's water you are hearing.

Did you clear the rear drains before you fitted the hard top?

Does it do it when the aircon is switched off? If so my next check would be the water pump and the alternator. Take it for a run and use an engineers stethoscope to track it down.

So being in the UK, this is the right hand side? If so, the coolant filler is in the rear boot behind the driver. This has an overflow that can gurlgle out the coolant. Might was doing it but I vented the system for a few days and all good now.

You may actually have water ...

... underneath the soft top.
If the side drains are clogged with debris water will collect and pool at the base of the soft top's pivot points and you may well hear it.
Try to see if you can either see it with a torch (flashlight) or reach in with your hand.
I have seen that situation more than once.
Happy Boxstering,
Pedro
