996 turbo/ C4S wheel fitment

Thinking of putting these rims on my '01 boxster but not sure if they will fit.
Rims are from the 996 C4S wide body 18".
Tires are
Front 225/40 ZR 18
Rear 295/30 ZR 18

I really don't think the 11" rears will fit. I bought some 10" wheels with a 65 offset that were on a 911. I got 20mm spacers to bring them down to 45. With that, they clear the shock tower by less than an inch. The fronts will fit.

The tires are worn i can still figure out fitments that may work.

Depending upon how aggressive you want your fitment to be, as well as what your suspension set-up is, here's a basic outline to follow:

Fronts:

8 inches wide = offsets ranging beginning with +40 to +35

8.5 inches wide = offsets ranging from +45 to +40 or so.

* tires 225 to 235 (some like to run 245 - I don't)

Rears:

9.5 inches wide = offsets ranging from +40 to +35

10 inches wide = offsets ranging from +45 to +40 or so.

* tires 265 to 285 (I prefer 275)

Again, these are based on a number of fitments that I have experiment with personally, and fitment between vehicles can vary based on suspension set-up, tire size and application of use.

Just as another data point:

A 255 with an 8.5" wheel having proper offset will fit on the front (barely). A 245 on a 9" wheel again with proper offset will also fit. I am not sure if the 255 on a 9" wheel would work though.

The front to rear stagger needs to be adjusted based on how much front camber you can run. Otherwise you will have too much understeer or oversteer. The OP's 225 / 295 combo even if it would fit, would probably result in gross understeer even with lots of front negative camber.

Yes.

It works pretty well on track days too, but you have to balance it with the maximum rear tire possible, or it can bite you.

That will stick out too much if you have a spacer on there.

Your limit is 996 10" (265mm or 285mm width tires) width wheel with a minimum with 23mm spacer. That's pushing it!

If you have 11" with 295mm width rear tires, you might need a spacer that's beyond 40mm spacer.

you can get a 18x10 +47 on the rear but no more.. you can't even get a finger between the rim and the stock shock.

BS... I run 19 x10 +31 on the rear with a 275 tire with plenty of inner clearance.

It maybe not practical but It's easier to convince ppl when you provide them with solid technical description: that's what I did.

Have you tried a 10" width on your 986?

I been running a set of 19 x 10 +31 wheels with 275 tires for years. What's your point ?
