lw flywheel - clutch?
ok - 3.6 L engine (say 375 hp on the optimistic side) 986 s 6-speed transmission, aasco lw flywheel.
what clutch/pressure plate: spec or sachs? if spec, what stage? what vendor? sachs look to be a lot cheaper on ebay than through the usual channels (pelican, etc.). cheers, trk. |
I cannot recommend Clutchmasters, nor they're 'Kevlar reinforced disc.

yeah, I have certainly debated this. it's a 3.6 currently mated to a 5-speed that's already done 30k kms with a lw flywheel with no ill effects. looking to put a 6-speed on it so it's a matter of keeping the lw flywheel and getting a rated clutch and pressure plate, or getting a new dual mass fw and most likely having to replace the clutch and pressure plate regardless (they have 90k kms on them currently).
the spec sport stuff looks less expensive than sachs and appears to work ok If you can get the right parts from the factory, so leaning towards that solution. uncertain what stage to go with however. |
I've got a LWFW and Spec sprung Stage 3+. Installed at 142K, the car is now 165K after 3 years and almost 3 seasons of autocross. Still going strong.
Give Spec a call. They'll discuss your set up/ how you use the car and get you the right clutch. Be sure to get the sprung version, though. I requested mine in sprung and they sent a solid version, but they were good about getting the right one out to me and my return. |
thanks. the spec 3+ is pricey - as much as the sachs sport setup. I guess i'm in for $1k no matter which side I dress on this one.
