Trunk problem
I have done a search and can't find info on this problem. My trunk pops open when I am driving. I pull over and close it, then drive a little ways, and the thing pops open again. I wonder if it has something to do with my key because when I unlock the door with the button on the key, the doors unlock AND the trunk pops open. Any thoughts as it is making me crazy!?

If it were my car doing this, I would try this:
Take the battery out of the key and go for a drive. If the trunk doesn't pop open, I think you will have your answer. If it is the key, just think of it as your periodic $350 donation to your local $tealership. |

Not normal; that's why there are 3 buttons.

I have had to replace my fob twice.
once by getting a new fob at the dealer $$$$$ second time by replacing the small micro switch. my experience has been bad switch with no response or having to press very hard to activate. the reverse may be true and your switch has become easy to press. such that the flex in the key fob body is enough to set it off. open up the key fob as though you're replacing the battery, pull the printed wiring board out by easing the three hook-like posts. this will expose the switches. brush off any dirt n things off the board and then just push the door switch. if this opens only the door, then the trunk switch has gone soft. there's thread here on how to replace the switch. good luck |

Three buttons on mine, one for the door lock, one for the trunk, and one for the frunk. I can't figure this one out. Close the trunk, drive a few miles, trunk pops open and the dash light comes on. I am going to try my other key when this damn snowstorm gets out of here. Thanks for all the advise. It doesn't sound as if anyone has really had this problem so I guess I am a pioneer. I will keep you posted. I am assuming when you replace the battery in a key, then you have to go to the stealership and have it reprogrammed? I wonder if my key battery is getting weak. Oh well, I will stop speculating and get to figuring this one out. Winter just won't let go here quite yet.

I would suspect a bad button in the fob making contact randomly and/or when other buttons are pressed. Bad buttons are a known issue with these. If you are at least a little experienced with soldering, I'd recommend replacing them. They cost less than $1 each and would only take a few minutes...wouldn't hurt to try.

I drive by Mouser electronics HQ everyday. I'd go and try to see if soldering the new piece would work.

Ok, it is NOT the key! My trunk will pop open at random times while driving with either of my two keys. It has to be something electrical but I don't have a clue where to look now. I am stumped so i need all you smart Porsche gurus to figure this out cause it is driving me crazy. Thanks again for your time.

if the trunk problem occurs with both keys.
when the remote is pressed to unlock the car - this would not mechanically trigger the push button for the trunk release by the side of the chair when the car is in motion.- you're not pressing the key buttons then it only leaves the locking/alarm electronics in the car.?!! my 2 cents |
Here's a left field thought.
Perhaps the problem isn't electrical or electronic. Have you checked the rear latch to see that it's lubricated and opening and closing properly without binding? My thought is that the rear latch may not close fully and the trunk pops open after you've hit enough small bumps. |
Same Issue
I'm having this same issue. It just started today. It started when i replaced the rear license plate light bulb. the leads were pretty badly corroded so i cleaned them with CLR. Could that be it? Could it be a short there?
