Pros and cons Plenum/74mm Throttle body
Hi everyone,
I would like to install a IPD Plenum with a 74 mm throttle body on my 2003, 986 Bosxter 2,7L. and would like to hear from anyone experience with this add on performance. thank you.http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1365805880.jpg |
I am in the process of doing mine, just gathering all the parts. I haven't heard of anyone complain of any negative outcomes, but would also like to know if anyone has. By the way save 800$ and just buy the 997 plenum.

Ckrikos is correct. You can replicate whatever the IPD plenum has to offer by assembling the necessary 997 parts for a fraction of the cost. Also, many have opted to use a 76mm TB instead.

I think they are all 76mm, just depends what you are measuring. I bought a 2003 c4s throttle body and it mates perfectly to the 997 v1 plenum.

Here are some pic of what they are and the differences
http://i1199.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1538f298.jpg The inside has a air divider that stops the dead space as the air hit the back of the plenum body. It also has a cross flo hole to help cavitation. http://i1199.photobucket.com/albums/...pse683e503.jpg Diameter is much larger http://i1199.photobucket.com/albums/...psb5a47fff.jpg End result depend on your exhaust, and other modifications. I've used this on a 2.7 base 2003 for 2 years with good results. The big picture is the total package require exhaust and ECU changes, that could net you a nice HP increase. Down side is a nearly equal cost |
