Will a 17x7 55 offset 996 wheel fit over the front 2002 S caliper?
Thanks in advance.

I want to go ahead and say yes. My understanding is 17 is the smallest wheel diameter for S brakes, and the offset is not extreme. Standard offset for front Boxster wheel is 52 mm stock, 55mm is a 3mm difference. However, that 3mm will be going towards the calipers, rather than away from. It should fit, but another what does anyone else have to say?

Will fit. But, not ideal.

It depends entirely on how capable a driver you are as to whether or not the 17x 7 will do it as a track wheel on a Boxster. If you are anything short of expert then they will be fine. Until recently, when it became legal to run the square setup, all specboxsters ran on these very wheels and people achieved some pretty heroic times.
I presume you are using these because you already have them or can get them very cheap. If not, and your choice is open, then you may want to consider going to 8.5s (ie the stock rear) or maybe even 18s. 5mm BTW can very easily be resolved with a spacer. Laurie |
