More problems with the top
My top will not go down for some reason I had the car in about a year ago but it is not the same issue. This time when I push the button nothing happens I can't hear the top motor or anything it just quit working without warning. I checked the fuse and they are good, Does anyone know what the problem could be? What else should I check?
Thank you for your help Automon |
One other obvious part of the circuit is the handbrake sensor. Gotta make sure that is working properly or, if you've bypassed it, that it still is bypassed.

Did you check the relay? http://www.theschillings.com/boxrelay.htm
Unfortunately, it's the only one of its' kind so you can't swap it with another in your car. If you know someone with the same relay in their Boxster you can swap with them and see if it works before buying a new one. Btw, if it turns out to be the relay, think about buying the smart top relay instead so you can put it down without the hand brake engaged. |
Thanks for your help Guys are the relays real expensive

Beyond the handbrake sensor, there's another one inside the hole where the center hook of the top connects to the front of the windshield. Try leaving the top unhooked and stick your left finger up into the hole and push in the switch, using your right hand to operate the top button.

I had a that problem but with the top down. It was the handbrake switch.
I pulled the cover off, pulled the plug and put a jummper wire(paperclip) in it. Got the top up. Whe I got home I put it all back think I was going to clean the switch or replace it. Well, it's been working fine for 3 months and I put the top down nearly every day some times a couple times a day. Richard |
What cover did you pull off to get to the handbrake switch?
