help! driver window not working
Hi. I am a newbie here. Have a 97 boxster. The passenger side window would roll down and go down an inch when the door is opened. However, the driver side doesn't roll down neither does it go down an inch when the door is opened. Could this be a fuse just causing the driver side windor to be malfunctioning?
Can you guys give me some advice on this? Thanks in advance. |

When you try to put the window down can you hear the motor run? If you can then your problem is from the relay, the windown may have slipped off, if u dont hear anything then chances are you need a new window motor. |
Could be a fuse or a relay. Here's a relay chart: http://www.theschillings.com/boxrelay.htm
If neither of those work, it may be the window regulator (see this thread http://986forum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3612&referrerid=2278 ) or the window motor. Hope it's all good soon. |

In american cars, the scissors-like metal arms inside the door that the window mounts to is called a regulator. It doesn't surprise me that they would use different terminology, it's just the fact that the same term is used for two completely different functions. Stranger things have happened... :) Jack After posting the above, I found the following link: http://www.car-stuff.com/porschewindowregulator.htm I shows a Porsche regulator... and it's what I described. It is the mechanism that would move the window, whether manually or automatically. I'd assume that it has the timer or sensor built in to do the partial roll-down as well. |
