Help-Strut disassembly question

Hi Guys,

I removed my strut and installed the spring compression tool, and then removed the nut at the top of the strut.

Now, how does the rest of it come apart so i can remove my spring??

It almost seems to be frozen on there

Thanks

Is it front or back?

Once the top nut is removed the plate should come off and then the entire spring can be taken out. Did you compress the spring with the tool? If not do a little bit. then tap the top plate out slowly. Make sure the tool is seated well.

Really? with the nut removed that whole triangular plate should come right off? yes i have the spring compressed, and i did try tapping it but it looks like is on there solid.

I will spray a little WD-40 in the there and try tapping again.

Thanks!

That thing isn't coming off.

That thing isn't coming off. it's the front strut by the way.

Can you try loosening the spring compressors (just a very little bit at a time!) to see if that'll help move the plate along?

Ahh, excellent idea bar10dah, thank you I will give that a try.

Got it off. with the spring depressor tool on and tight I picked up the whole assembly and gave two good whacks with a hammer one the end of the strut where the nut was removed from, and that sucker popped right out.

Thanks for your replies and help gentlemen.
