Speaker Screeeeeaach!!!

Hello All,

In the past year-and-a-half that I've owned my '99, there has been a horrible, high-pitched squealing noise coming from my driver's side dash speaker. Sometimes it occurs as soon as the stereo is turned on, and other times it seems dependent on engaging other electrical components. Conversely, it can be silenced by pushing the cig lighter (inop) or using the turn signal. Cranking up the volume can also turn the dog whistle noise back into whatever should be coming through the system.

I've read that this can be the result of a bad ground. If so, how do I diagnose/fix the problem? Could it be related to something else?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks, and happy driving,

-kenny
