gas cap lock

recently got a 2001 and noticed that when I lock the doors, the gas fill door doesn't lock. in looking at this a little closer I noticed the plunger that comes out to go into the receiver in the door falls a little short. is there a way to adjust the plunger?

thanks

Read another post on it. Don't remember much but search it. Something about a bad servo or something.

There is a small plastic loop that goes around the plunger. It may be restricting it from moving into place. you will have to look inside of the hole where the plunger comes out and pull that loop with a pair of needle nose pliers.

Had this problem on mine, pushed it in and out a few times, now locks ok.
