spoiler wont go up automatically

the spoiler on my 986 will go up by pressing the button on the fusebox, but wont go up automatically when driving.
i know this because there was someone driving behind me and told me that its not working.
any ideas what it could be please?

How fast were you going?
The spoiler ativates at 75 MPH (120 KPH?) on U.S. cars.

My spoiler works with the button but I have no idea if it works while driving. Is the light on the dash supposed to come on over 75 mph? My light does not. The rear of the car curves down so much that I can't see the spoiler in the mirror.

The light will not come on when it is activated, at least on my car it doesn't. To confirm that the spoiler works, I put a long piece of masking tape across it at 90° and went for a "spirited" drive. If the tape is broken and/or pulled loose, the spoiler is working.

The spoiler on my Boxster does ...

not go up automatically because it was disabled by the Porsche dealership at the request of the previous owner. However when I drive above 75 mph the spoiler red lite comes on telling me that the spoiler does not operate. Presumably he did not fix it because of cost and nor am I about to fix it for the same reason:(. The dealership disconnected the wires to the spoiler mechanism. I presume there is a motor that operates the spoiler and I would think that is the problem. According to another thread there is a circuit breaker that controls the spoiler but apparently is tied into the trunk release. Hence the dealer isolated the spoiler by disconnecting the wires to the spoiler activator. Hope this might shed some lite on the problem.

I think you should give this a try... if it's still not going up I think your car is at an age where it just can't do it anymore!!

i went faster than 75 mph, had someone followng for this reason cause i had my doubts if its working. no red light comes on but the spoiler doesnt go up automatically, but will work with the button. i thought that if theres something wrong with the motor that operates the spoiler, it wont workat all. so it must be a relay or something.

Drop a couple Viagra in the tank.

Hadydaddy 11-18-2011 11:00 AM

i disabled the OE spoiler and added an aftermarket spoiler giving the car a better look and permanent spoiler, an option to consider

Fixed spoiler =Less moving parts =eventually less$. Makes sense to me. Porsche on a shoestring budget = dreaming! Drive and be happy anyway.

I’m bumping this post

I have the same problem, spoiler will go up and down thru the switch but not when driving.
It will also work thru the Durametric software.
Any ideas (except putting Viagra in the trunk – checked, doesn’t work)?

How did you disable your spoiler? I asked my dealer about doing it and they said it can't be done.
