As has been said, if you want to go $20k faster, I would buy another car. I've autocrossed GT3, 993TT, 996TT, Z06s, shifter karts, etc. IMO, the C5 Z06 is the bargain if you want something that handles pretty well and goes very fast in a straight line. If you want a Pcar, get the 996TT. For $20k you can buy a C5Z06. For $20k plus selling your S, you can get a 986TT or C6Z06. I loved my Z06, I only sold it when I just couldn't afford to keep it when we needed a diesel truck as well.

Whilst I'm incredibly anal about driving and also far from being obsessed with power, the whole "get better at driving to go faster" response to the question of how to increase power does rather miss the point. It's doesn't matter how good you are behind the wheel, it will not improve the feeling of engine-generated longitudinal acceleration. You need more power or less weight to achieve that.
I could have bought several much more powerful cars than my Box. But I'd still love a 3.4 from the 996 in my car. |
