is motor mount removal nessesary for water pump replacement?
hi everyone, I'm getting ready to DIY a water pump replacement, I've read that it's much easier if you remove the front motor mount and drop the motor a few inches rather than get at it from the interior access panel. what do you guys think?

+1 on that. You'll still have to go through the interior panel to remove the belt, but do the pump and thermostat from underneath, dropping the mount. How old is the mount? Should you be changing it at the same time?

i replaced the mount a few months ago so I'm familiar with that procedure. do i have to completely remove the mount from the engine or just from the body so that i can lower it? thanks

just from the body

You don't HAVE to remove the motor mount - the coolant pump is quite accessible from the interior access panel, but its tricky the first time you do it - the second time its a piece of cake....

I second that.....watch out for hot coolant;...not good as a mouth or face wash.;) |
I third that, no need to remove mount. the hardest part of the job is to get all the air out of the system, make sure you follow procedures for that.
