here's some video from the track last week. i played w/ the GoPro a lot & have some great footage, but i'm still stringing it all together. this clip is a full lap at talladega gran prix with some footage reeling in & passing a TT.
this track is a bit small for the TT to really stretch its legs; it's weight penalty hits it hard here. that means this is a good opportunity for me to eat his lunch. :) here's the TT vid: http://vimeo.com/29289857 i'll post more later; i got a GREAT clip of a C5 Z06 coming out of a pretty quick corner with the camera facing backward. Heeeheeeeee! Nice work! Looks exactly like the guy who blew by me too!
Whats the red band/lanyard on your arm we don't have to wear those up here?? |
That was beautiful, insite. It's no surprise you can drive that smoothly after reading all your posts. Thanks again.
|
thanks for the kind words, guys.
jaykay - the bands are arm restraints. some tracks require them if you want to run with the top down. they connect to the shoulder harnesses at the harness cam, so un-doing the harnesses also releases the arm restraints. they always looked like they'd interfere w/ driving, but they really don't. |
Got it.....makes total sense. They make us run with the top up here which I really dislike. I would really like to experience top down track driving
|
even though i could put the top up & gain a second or two, it is SO much more sublime with the top down. i love it.

Reviving an old thread...considering doing the same.
How is the sound and if you had to do it over again would you? I have had good success with Fabspeed Cat-bypass and primary muffler by-pass pips on 964's but no experience with 986. |
Pictures of secondary cats
For your enjoyment.
Open canister with a Dremel wheel, remove cat, reweld canister. Cost = $0.00 http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1501285647.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1501285699.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads02...1501285733.jpg |
Insane restriction. Having a hard time breathing just looking at the pics. Makes me want to purchase some test pipes asap.
|
I'm all for saving money but to go through removing, cutting and then welding back up
I bought Circuit Werks cat delete pipes around $150. It fit no issues and it is a nice clean install with all the pieces. I do like the idle sound and @ 2900 RPMs just cruising with the top down there is a nice note to the exhaust. It sounds pretty mean in tunnels too. |

Hmmm for $150 maybe worth the investment to let the engine breath a bit more. Thanks for the info. Been kicking around to changing muffler to a fvd sound version, maybe do it with the cat delete.

Ops, just realized Dave80GTS answered Definitely worth it. A bit of work to get the (3) bolts off the end of the primary cats |
So sorry to revive an old thread. Had a few questions of my own that I haven't been able to answer after a few days of searching.
I'm looking at going catless. I just had a shop open my stock "S" muffler, remove 70% of the baffling, and re-weld. This gave the car a much nicer exhaust note, but it's still too quiet. So now I'm looking at removing some of the restriction by replacing the secondary cats. However I'm stuck deciding between straight pipe or resonated. Anyone have any experience with the resonated cat delete pipes? Circuit works makes them, and thought it might be insurance against an overly noisy and drone-y street exhaust. Thoughts? |

Hahaha..... Just foolin' with ya.... Sent from my SM-G930T using Tapatalk |
You might check out my video on my YouTube channel about the secondary cat bypass. Sounds good, no drone, a bit louder but not a lot. See the DIY section here for the link.

Trying to decide if I should get the resonated version. Or if the staight pipe version isn't that much louder, I'll just go for that. |
I’ll try to get a sound clip today while I’m filming my dyno run for my latest video. I’m sure that no one would say that my car is loud. I did that bypass video in the dead of winter so never had a chance to film the results. I may re-edit it to add the sound clip.
