Brake pad warning light on after pad change ?

I've just changed the front pads and rotors (including the wear sensors) on my 2001 Boxster S for the first time. It all went ok. To my disappointment however the brake pad warning light came on as soon as I turned on the ignition to go and bed-in the new pads. Hmmmm...what the heck did I do wrong?

Any suggestions what it might be / how to resolve easily ?

Most likely one of the pad sensors isn't making good a good contact where it plugs in or the sensor itself is bad (broken internal wire). I'd remove the sensors where they plug in and test them for continuity using a multimeter. Then re-seat them firmly and see if that fixes the dash light problem.

Unplug one at a time until the light goes out.

Once you find the culprit, check the sensor for a short to ground.
