Few questions on brake upgrades

Ok, I had my first track day Sat. in my 2000 S. First my god I love this car. Second I need to do some brake work. Lost the brakes going into a turn on the last run of the day. I will be flushing/replacing the fluid and was thinking of replacing the hoses with ss. I had read on this forum somewhere that someone had used ebay hoses and was looking for feedback on which ones they bought and thoughts on performance. Looking at these

, anyone have experience with the vendor/product? Also is there anything I need to do after replacing the hoses other than a thorough bleed? Thanks for any info you may have.

I wouldn't put any money into brake hoses.

If you didn't change out your brake fluid prior to the track day, then that was your problem.

Also check out the GT3 brake ducts for < $30.

I replaced my hoses w/ stainless steel about 80,000 miles ago. It gave the pedal a much firmer feel. I got them from either Pelican or Vertex Auto: about $80. A good flush with Ate Blue or Ate Gold also helped.

+1 on the GT3 brake ducts. Cheap and they are a 10min install. They get a lot of cooling air up onto the brakes.

If you check with Porsche Motorsport they use oem rubber brake lines

Change the brake fluid, not the brake lines. Most likely you boiled your regular fluid when you "lost your brakes". A mushy brake pedal (or almost no pedal at all) is due to the air bubbles in the brake lines compressing as you push the brake pedal instead of the force being transmitted to the caliper. Changing to a fluid intended for racing will fix that.

Going to stainless steel brake lines will not do anything to keep the fluid from boiling, they just transmit pressure a teeny bit better than rubber brake lines.

I ran at the track all day on Sunday in 92F heat and didn't have any problems using racing fluid and stock rubber brake lines. Next track outing is three days at Laguna Seca at the end of the month.
