Cayman forum looking for Cayman/Boxster owners with failed motors due to oiling issue

Here's a link to the thread:

http://www.planet-9.com/cayman-boxster-problems-complaints/59790-oiling-problems-blown-motors-nhtsa.html

This mostly a discussion about oiling problems which occur at the track--AOS issues, spun bearings, cracks in the cylinder walls, etc..

Mine is #14 on that list.

Just to save people the hassle of cutting/pasting the URL, this list from the Planet9 forum has a total of 15 cars so far.

Apparently track-related oiling issues aren't just a Porsche issue, there's a current thread on corner-carvers about GM engine failures in CTS-V's and Corvettes. The only iron-clad solution being a hybrid or full dry-sump system.

Hadn't heard of the CTS-V problems, but there have been a number of LS2/LS3 and LS7 (Z06 motor) failures due to lacking of proper oiling in high G turns. the 2009 Z06 got a bigger dry sump reservoir --yep they have one built into the car-- and that reportedly has helped greatly reduce the problem.

I am also looking for 2000>up BoxsterS & CaymanS in need of engine rebuild to buy.
