Radiator drain plug broken
i have recently aquired doing maint. on a 03 986s through my g.f. i lifted the car today to change the oil and noticed a wet spot in the front drivers side. she said her washer fluid tank leaks so, i figured thats what was causing the issue. as i pulled off the lower air dam i noticed there is no drain plug in the radiator and there is a slow drip. the head of the plug is broke off and only the threads are left in the radiator.
i have read a little bit about that plug and apparently those break fairly often. she said she has had all kinds of coolant issues with the car in the past. so, i am assuming it broke somewhere along the line while doing maint. anyway... i called the dealer and they said it will take ~7 days to get one in. plus its a $20 POS plastic plug. has anyone here used a plug from another vehicle and had luck with it? what i am really looking for is if someone has the size of it so i can get a brass plug for it. if anyone has some input i would greatly appreciate it. this is her daily driver and i dont want her driving around with a coolant leak. thanks- Brian |
Anyone at all? I have a temp repair on it with a hose plug but, I would like to fix it sooner rather than later.

If memory serves, those plugs are not pipe thread, but a metric size, so you are kind of stuck with the OEM part.
