Radio Illumination

Hope I've posted this in the correct forum.

Can someone tell me what color wire in the Boxster's radio harness allows the radio to determine if the cars headlights are on?

I have installed an aftermarket combination NAV/Radio unit and everything seems to function correctly except that when I turn on the Boxster's headlights, the radio's display goes blank.

Thanks,
Ken

Wire color code

Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately the boxster's radio harness plug was previously removed so I cant match the wires I have with their old locations in the plug. I was hoping to find a wiring diagram that showed me the color code of the particular wires.

I have obviously miss-wired something because when I turn on my headlights the head unit cycles erratically. I guess the most likely thing is the connection to the illumination sensor, but I don't know which wire that is. I think I must have something tied to it that should be ground and then when I turn on the headlights it goes high.

I sure wish the boxster's radio harness plug wasn't removed on the last radio install.

Grey and blue. That's for mine (2001).

For 1998 (possibly yours), there's also a grey/blue that goes to terminal of the same name.

So I'd look for grey/blue if I was you.

With the info you gave me I was able to resolve the problem - Thanks Norm
