My Top won't go up!
HELP!! :ah: All I can find are questions or problems with tops that won't go down. I have a 2000 Boxter S with a rag top that won't go up. Any suggestions?
|
First try replacing the fuse.
Do you have a dash light on at all? |
No, no lights are on. I pull on the emergency break, push the top up button and nothing happens. Now a really dumb question. Can I find information on the fuses in the manuals?
|
This has to be the biggest problem with Boxsters. Porsche seems to suck at making convertibles that actually work. I have been fighting this problem for months now. EVERYTHING we try, does not work. The top is intermittent...sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I make damn well sure that the sun will be out for a long time if I decide to take the top down, because I don't know if it will go back up. I also won't make the change between up and down unless it is in my garage. The last thing I want to do is drive around with a top half up and half down...like I have had to do before.

If you reach down to the drivers footwell, there is a small panel on the kick pad that houses the fuses.
You should have a small paper insert that shows the layout of the fuse box and you can locate the fuse that works your top from the diagram on the sheet. |
There should also be a few spares in the box itself.

Checked the fuses, now what?
Bruce thanks for the suggestion with the fuses. I checked all the fuses and they are all fine.
Any other suggestions? Is there a sensor switch that indicates the emergency break is on? My son drove it about a week ago and I had a devil of a time pulling up on the emergency break to get the button to push in so I could release it. If there is an emergency break sensor, perhaps it is stuck on or we broke it or something. |
