Where can I find the radio codes for my 2004 boxster with cdr23 radio unit? I have check the radio book and I cannot find it there. Any ideas?

Only your dealer can help you here. Check with your service dept, who will access the code for you.

Your year has no user code.

im going to be installing the rear speaker kit FYI..i have read you should put tweeters in too in the rear speakers, can anyone elaborate on this process and would I need an aftermarket amp?

The 23 and 24 radios do not have a user code so you do not get a code card. If you disconnect power then restore power the radio just turns on.

There is a 'code' in the instrument cluster and a matching code in the radio. This 'code' is a series of numbers apparently based on the VIN. When these numbers match the radio turns on. You do not have access to these numbers.

phrankandbeans:

I bought an aftermarket speaker kit identical to the ones sold on Ebay and it came with a connector that should plug directly into the back of your head unit.

It has a midrange and a tweeter for each side, and must be mounted inside the storage box you must also buy... these are real hard to find used and new ones are $500+ from the parts counter. Yikes!

If by chance you don't have a storage box yet, consider buying some good, self-contained speakers and just velcroing them down to the carpet behind the headrests over the engine compartment. I would imagine the sound will be comparable and the price FAR less than what you'd pay for that stupid carpeted box.

No one sees the speakers unless your top is up anyway. Just my 2 cent's worth on this topic...

If your 2004 has the optional amp then the rear speakers are powered by the amp, not the radio head. The amp in 2003/4 is 6 channels, so you use 2 for the rear speaker kit.
