Failed Emissions test code P1691
Failed in MD. P1691 trouble code. Anyone know what this code is?

my 1997 service manual says "MIL Interruption in wiring" "Check wiring from ECM to instrument cluster for continuity"

Seems there is a problem with the wiring to light your CEL which automatically makes it light up. (1997 manual which should still be correct)

It could also mean that the CEL light bulb is out. I had the same code a while back and replacing the bulb fixed it.
