I think the AOS is trying to tell me something....
 

Had a chance to go out to MSR (SW of Ft. Worth) for member day and run some sessions. Went out for the first one and it was just incredible, car was perfect...but little did I know.

Came in to the pit area and was doing my usual tire pressure / checking under the car when I saw smoke coming off the exhaust on the right side. Went over to the right side to look underneath and already a small pool of oil was forming on the ground.

Pulled of the top access panel and there was oil all over the top of the motor expecially heavy around the AOS. I have suspected that it was about to go...now I know it.

I have the replacement in my parts locker in my garage. Guess I know what I will be doing this weekend.

Can you post a pic of you AOS if it did explode?

Have you considered the Motorsports version?

I drove MSR last weekend. When were you there?

I hear that the Motorsport version is difficult to install. The replacement I purchased is the standard one.

I trying to work out doing the next Mav region PCA event at MSR in mid-october.

Installed the AOS today. It had it's moments.... As many have reported, I used a standard automotive "o" clamp vs. the factory spring clamp. Much easier...

Anyway, we will see if the solved the issue I am seeing where the lower right rear area of the engine bay is covered in oil. If it is not the AOS, I think it could be the rear part of the valve cover that is leaking. We will see.

Unless you have the cool pliers and attachments designed for those clamps, they can be next to impossible (or well, actually impossible in some places) to work with.

Best bet is to wash down the area now so that you can keep and eye on things from here forward. Typically, valve covers won't leak copious amounts of oil, but rather weep and eventually drip.
