Stupid dyno question - Torque signal
 

Where's the best/easiest place to pick up a torque signal when putting the car on a dyno?

Most dynos are a set of weighted rollers. The car is set on the rollers and accelerates as hard as possible. The time it takes to get to each speed point tells you what the horsepower of the car is. Torque is calculated from the horsepower data.

There's no "torque signal" to be had from the car.

Are you thinking about an ignition signal?

Yes, the local one reads that to do the math.

You need to place the dyno's inductive pick up on the wires that feed one of the coil packs... Then set the dyno's settings to pick up the signal every 720 crank degrees.

This will give you both TQ and HP Vs engine RPM.. This is the settings that I use on my dynojet with the M96 engine.
