garry different tyres front n back
im looking at changing the 2 back tyres to conti sport contacts and leaving the 2 front as michelin pilots the garage says no problem ,only a problem with 4 x 4s anybody have a comment on this
ta garry |
This is never a good idea. It will have an adverse effect on handling as the different tires have different characteristics.
Can you do it? Sure. Should you do it? Not recommended. |
While it is not recommended, I don't think it will make that big of a difference for regular daily driving.
I've done it before on numerous occasions, and to be honest, I never really noticed any significant difference for city driving. I've gone through setups with full Pirellis front/rear, Michelins front/rear, Conti's F/R, Nittos F/R, and mixed setups with pirelli front, michelin rear, nitto front, michelin rear, etc... no biggie. Would it have a big difference on the track, or in the rain? It definitely could, but again, if it's for regular driving, I think you'll be alright. Currently, I'm gonna try out a full set of HTR-Z III's... If price is an issue and the reason for mixing tires, you might want to check these tires out for a great bang for your buck performance tire... |
