OBC hack for '03 986

I have the urge to do the single-switch (non-stalk) OBC hack for my '03 non-S Boxster. I spent a while last night searching, but a lot of the resources I found were dated.

Anyone here with an '03 done the OBC hack? Any comments or tips?

Also, my understanding is that the single-switch will let me toggle through all of the modes, but the second switch allows setting the audible speed notification. Is there any other functionality that will not be available without a second switch?

Thanks in advance.

go for the stack hack

You should go for the 4th stalk hack. It is very simple to add the stalk without taking the steering wheel off. you can usually pick up the fourth stalk from a performance shop or a dismantler. It screws on very easily and running the wiring is simpler than routing to a toggle switch on the center console. I did it and it was easy to do. I believe you may also loose the reset without the second switch. I think it is the same trigger for reset as is the audible on/off.

I too would like to know if the reset works with only the one switch. I just bought a switch and was going to get started soon on my 03 OBC.

If I could find a stalk for cheap I'd definitely have gone that route. That said, my $29 switch is a lot cheaper than a $150+ stalk. Could care less about the speed gong also.

So everything that I have read on this subject suggests that this is only an option for pre-2003 Boxsters. I have yet to see someone with an '03 testify to this hack.

Anyone? Anyone?

I have an 03 and added a 4th stalk to control OBC. It's not too difficult of a project. Using a stalk does costs more but visually I like how it retains the factory appearance.

Sweet. I'm heading up to my dealer to get the car up on a lift for a quick inspection, so I'll try to get them to enable the OBC while I'm there...
