Cleaning/lubricating gas pedal?

I have an '01 S - I think that means it's an eGas car? The gas pedal does not move as smoothly as I think it should, any advice for cleaning or lubricating it?

That unit isn't normally serviceable. You could remove it and make sure nothing is binding it up such as carpet lint, debris, etc.

I've squirted some white lithium grease into the dust boot and it smoothed out the action.

Now that I know the pedal assembly just connects to the pedal position sensor inside the dash - has anyone had any luck cleaning the pedal position sensor, or does it just need to be replaced when sticky?
