Age of tires question?
I heard that tires have the manufacture date stamped in the inside somewhere. I have a set of nearly un-used Avon Tech all seasons that I bought 2 years ago, but don't know how old they were when I got them. I checked the inside - saw a whole bunch of stuff but nothing that looked like a date.
My current set are tracked, worn, and noisy. These would make good winter street tires. Is there a coding of some type for the date? At what age does the rubber break down? Or is this something I don't need to be worrying about at all? I searched, but didn't find anything, but the forum Gods are whispering that it's in there somewhere. If this is a repeat I'll be quiet and go away. (bracing for flames) |
