an increase of 50HP with a $60 chip?!!? If it worked we would all know about it.

Just did a quick search on it. Someone on a BMW forum put one on and had his 5 series dynoed, he lost a few HPs with it installed. Knowing how finicky our cars can be I would be reluctant to hook up a box with four wires and a dial to my ECU.

It's like anything else! if it's too good to be true.. then it's a SCAM ! In good and bad times, especially in these hard economic times, people would try anything and it's up to us to really decide if we really need to gamble on these useless things !

Looks like a potentiometer (variable resistor). The idea is probably to put this inline with the air intake temp sensor to trick the PCM into thinking the air is cooler & causing it to richen up the fuel mix. This only would function during closed loop (startup & full throttle).
Not worth the $ and not worth hacking Porsche wiring for.

Yep, from the "installation instructions" I'm certain that's exactly what it is. The "IAT resistor mod" was a popular mod in the LT1 Chevy Camaro camp about 10 years ago... For about a year, until people realized that it rarely provided any additional power.

I misspoke. It was Uncle Rico that bought the time machine. Napoleon tried it out.

Here's an idea.

Chain 4 of them together and you'll get 200hp instantly... much better than 50hp gain from just using one!!! :)

I don't want to flame you, but there is no way that a stock engine could handle that massive increase in power without some serious modifications. Plus if he had all four turned to "MAX" and hit 88 mph he may travel back in time.

Too risky IMHO.
