Exteriro mods-which are tops?

I am wondering which exterior mods folks most favor. Is it wheels, aero type kits, Clear lenses etc,?

I will start by saying that 18" wheels are a very nice start. You can also easily sell these if you want to bring the car back to stock so the net net costs may not be that high.

Whose next?

My idea

I would say, clear lense are a must, but you have to follow through and remove the orange from inside also.

Stay away from porsche turbo look bumper, I bought one for £600 / $1450 and it was shocking. I resold it a few month later for £200 / $350.

Also clear side markers and clear/red back lights are a must also.

Cool. Do we take the Boxster emblem off the trunk or not?

Subanez 01-02-2005 08:07 AM

I did, although it would be COOL if they had the word PORSCHE in that same font to put there instead...but be careful about taking the BOXSTER emblem off, as it can leave behind residue....or if the car is a little older and the paint barely faded, it will still read BOXSTER on the paint where the emblem was.

good point but there is a little trick.

Use dental string, after the logo is off clean the trunk with polish... i did it and it was like it was never there, I put a new one on as they 2004 logo is not shinny, its dull and looks good. Mind i have a black car and its nice to break up trunk.

I can see your point though for removing on other color boxsters.

Subanez you can get a PORSCHE logo to replace the boxster, i have seen them..
Your correct about the paint.... Its hard to see, but TCUT will remove it.

Subanez 01-02-2005 10:01 AM

TCUT? What's that? I did the polish trick with the dental floss, and still had problems....but that's just life, I guess. The Porsche is at the dealer right now getting a 60K service, new tires, refinishing the rims, and body touchups, as well as a full interior and exterior detailing...so hopefully it won't be as obvious when I pick it up next week!

Tcut is a special polish that removes a layer of paint... It takes the boxster logo away from the paint. here a little photo from my garage... remember to get the color that matches your car!

Post pics when you get your boxster back. I really need to replace my interior.. maybe white leather on black leather... would look good with a black car.

Interesting. iIhave seen that Porsche crest applied to Boxster trunk. I think it looks very nice.

You can get all sorts of emblems from Tweeks. If you get their catalog there is about a whole page of nothing but emblems and scripts. I like the "986" script that jfmillr has.

porsche986 01-02-2005 02:45 PM

yer i have seen that, it looks good.

However boxster is still the one for me, i think the idea of the rear crest aint a good idea, however i see what you mean though..

What are the wheels of choice? 18 inch OEMs or Aftermarket?

Adam 01-02-2005 06:08 PM

18" Carrera light

Brucelee 01-02-2005 06:43 PM

Any pix for us?

Adam 01-02-2005 07:01 PM

Lux has Carrera lights as do some others on the board. They seem to garner alot of postive reactions especially for an oem wheel. I'll find some on ebay.

Here we go. This car has them

I like the stock wheels. they are fantastic.

Brucelee 01-03-2005 07:17 AM

Those wheels are beautiful.

Good stuff.

Yes, be carful about taking the rear badge off, use dental floss to take it off and Goo-Gone to take the sticky residue off. Then buff and wax it good and it should look like it was never there.

A nice bonus is that they save 20+lbs in rotational mass over the stock 17s.
