Steering wheel feel
I’ve had my Boxster S since August and have only one complaint. Unless it’s a humid day, my hands seem to slide off the steering wheel unless I use a death grip. While I’m not looking for a sticky feel, I don’t want a steering wheel that feels like it’s got talcum powder sprinkled all over it. I was thinking about buying a Wheelskin. http://www.wheelskins.com/downloads.php
Does anyone have any thoughts? |
I have never had this issue with an S. Deep cleaning may be in order.

My hands have never slipped on my 02S - not even driving in Arizona for a year.
I did put wheelskins on my previous car, when the rubber started to twist at one spot over the steel core of the steering wheel. It 'Fattened' the steering wheel up over 1/4 inch (which is more of a difference than I expected). On my Nissan that was a good thing, on the Boxster it might be too fat. The quality of my two-tone wheelskins was excellent. After spending about 1 hour to stitch it up firmly in the first place, the wheelskin cover has been on for about 5 years and about 50,ooo miles with no problems. It was a snug fit on installation and stayed snug. One bonus- with the wheelskin leather the steering wheel is a little less hot it hot weather and a little less cold in cold weather. If your steering wheel slips, I would complain to the dealer first. But if you choose wheelskins, I would expect you to get good value for your money like I did. |
