Removing CR 220

I ordered an iPod hook up cable for my car (its actually for a different radio, but if the pins differ in arrangement greatly I'll just re arrange them). And I have a couple questions:

I ordered removal tools, but was curious if there was a way to remove the radio without them? Just in case or something

I also understand that there is a place i can draw power from that is used for charging phones above the radio? Can anybody tell me where this is?
